JUNE 12-16

BALLET INTENSIVE I with Kelsey Van Tine
Kelsey Van Tine picKelsey Van Tine was born in Naples, Florida. She trained at the Naples Dance Conservatory, formerly known as The Ballet Institute of Southwest Florida, under the direction of Abdelazis Roque. Ms. Van Tine has performed many principal and soloist roles during her tenure at Kentucky Ballet Theatre. Including title roles in Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, Giselle, Raymonda, Swan Lake, Dracula, Coppelia, Peter Pan, The Beauty & The Beast, Carmen, Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, La Sylphide, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, and The Little Mermaid. She has performed numerous Pas de Deux including the Diana & Actaeon, Harlequinade, The Merchant & the Slave, the Spring Waters, La Esmeralda, Flames of Paris, and The Talisman Pas De Deux. Ms. Van Tine has also performed other principal and lead roles in The Night Before Christmas, Beethoven, Munecos, Calles de Tango, Nisi Dominus, Saerpil, Classics & Cuba, Boleros, and Majisimo among many others. At the end of the 2012–2013 season with KBT, she was promoted to the category of Principal Dancer by Artistic Director Norbe Risco for her tremendous artistic talent and mastery the art of classical ballet. This will be her eighth season with the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, where she is also on faculty at the KBT Academy as one of the lead teachers and YAGP coach.

ACRO INTENSIVE I with Maria Savoia
maria headshotMaria Savoia has been dancing for 18 years, including 2 years of competitive cheerleading. Her first few years she trained at Dance Unlimited in Wellington, Florida, and then moved onto dancing at DanceTown in Miami, Florida. She has trained in all styles of dance consisting of ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, ballroom, hip-hip, pointe, and acro. Maria grew up training and competing all across the U.S. and has been recognized for winning top awards and titles from top soloist, top choreography, judges choice awards, and many others on the regional and national level.
 

 

 

JUNE 26 – 30

DANCE CAMP (AGES 4-10) 9 AM – 3 PM (Before and After Care Available)

This camp has it ALL! Campers work on arts and crafts, play games, and learn to dance a number of styles, all to show off to family and friends in their very own mini showcase at the end of the week. This is a great way to keep your dancers moving during the summer when they might otherwise just be hanging out in front of the TV.

JUNE 28 – JULY 2

JAZZ INTENSIVE I with Tyler Muhlenkamp
tylerTYLER MUHLENKAMP from Dance League will be here to lead our students in a jazz intensive! Tyler’s dancing credits include: “The Cleaner” on A&E, “90210” on CBS, Norwegian Cruise Line and Jean Anne Ryan Productions along with Disney Cruise Line. He has also worked with Odyssey Dance Theatre based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. After traveling the globe with various dance opportunities and cruise ships getting the chance to do what he loves, Tyler has found home in Orlando, FL performing as an Actors Equity Association (AEA) dancer at the Walt Disney World Resort along with the Disney Event Group. Credits locally include: performing as a “Newsie” in the Walt Disney World Christmas Parade filming’s aired on ABC dancing next to many entertainment icons including Neil Patrick Harris, special events for the Walt Disney World Resort, Metropolis Productions, In Motion Dance Productions, and being an Equity lead at his main stage of Dream Along With Mickey.  

CONTEMPORARY INTENSIVE I with Weatherlee Stephenson
Weatherlee picWeatherlee Stephenson has been dancing since the age of 2! She has been fortunate enough to train extensively with some amazing teachers throughout her career and has found success as a choreographer, winning choreography awards at competitions across the country. She has trained in all genres but is particularly fond of Jazz and Contemporary and is excited to return to The Dance Warehouse to share her love of dance and passion for pushing dancers to reach beyond their own expectations. Knowing that she was pushed and was able to reach new heights in her training only encouraged her more to bring this to her teaching and training.
 

 

 

 

JULY 10 – 14

HIP HOP INTENSIVE with Melissa Ruiz
MR 2Melissa Ruiz was born and raised in Miami, FL where she began dancing at the age of 4 and continued her training in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern throughout her school years. Later moving to Orlando, Fl brought her many opportunitites in the dance industy performing for local recording artists, MTV, Nickelodeon Studios, McDonalds, Miller Beer and Surf Expo. In addition, she has choreographed for NBA’s Orlando Magic Dancers, Orlando Predators, FSU’s Golden Girls, Orlando’s National Indoor Football League “Ghost Riders”, along with countless dance studios, high school and college dance teams throughout the country. She currently teaches and choreographs Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary along with directing 5 Hip Hop competition teams in the Central Florida area. Now at the age of 36, Melissa is owner/creator of Underground Dance Xperience and continues her determination to bring more opportunities to the Florida dance community.

JULY 10 – 16

JULY 17 – 21

TAP INTENSIVE with Aubrey Cheek
aubrey cheekAubrey Cheek grew up in Florida and moved to New York City to begin her professional dance career. Aubrey has performed with Chloe Arnold’s Apartment 33 at the DC Tap Festival, Rhythm in Motion (NYC), Tap City (NYC), the New York Botanical Gardens, and in the full length show this past fall, Apartment 33: Where Dreams are Made. Aubrey is the assistant to Chloe and Maud Productions as well as The SILLAR Company. She has trained with Derick Grant, Michelle Dorrance, Chloe Arnold, Maud Arnold, Charles Renato, Sarah Reich, Nicholas Young, Prof. Robert L Reed, and numerous others. She graduated from Pace University with a degree in Arts and Entertainment Management. Aubrey teaches tap at a studio in New Jersey and has taught workshops at various studios around the country.
 

 

CONTEMPORARY INTENSIVE II with Rebecca Walker
Rebecca_400Rebecca Walker is a well rounded dancer originally from Cape Coral, FL and is a Dance Warehouse alumni. Rebecca is a dancer who trains in all styles ranging from ballet to modern to hip hop and everything in between. She has received her Associates degree in dance from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. She is currently studying for her BFA in dance at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA. She thoroughly enjoys performing but has a passion for choreography. Her most recent choreographed work was submitted and formally adjudicated at ACDA (American College Dance Association) in Tampa, FL in 2017.

BALLET INTENSIVE II with Edwin Navarro
Edwin Navarro Bio-page-002Born in Maracaibo Venezuela, Mr. Navarro began his ballet training at the “State of Zulia Ballet School” under the direction of the Artistic Director Guillermo Gonzalez. After graduating Mr. Navarro joined “Ballet Danzarte de Maracaibo” as a principal soloist. During that time he performed in many classical pieces as “Swan Lake”, “Chopiniana”, ” The Nutcracker” and many others. Few years later Mr. Navarro received an invitation to join “Ballet de Maracaibo” as a principal dancer under the direction of Nedo Vojkic and years later became a part of “The National Ballet of Caracas” directed by Vicente Nebrada.
Being a principal dancer of “The Teresa Carreno Theater”, Mr. Navarro had a chance to participate in multiple international tours, galas and ballet festivals in Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, USA, Spain, Canada. In his repertoire he has danced classical and neoclassical principal and leading roles in world famous ballets such as “Swan Lake”, “Paquita”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Nutcracker”, “Cinderella”, “Coppelia”, “Raymonda”, “Chopiniana”, “Giselle”, “Walpurgis Night”, “Flower Festival”, “Midsummer’s Night Dream”, “Le Corsaire”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Firebird”, “Fiebre” and “Batucada Fantastica”. During his career as a dancer Mr. Navarro has also performed for TV Show Pageant “Miss Venezuela”, TV commercials and music videos.
After discovering his passion for teaching and ballet coaching Mr. Navarro got trained by Irina Ivanova, a ballet mistress graduated from The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet which he finished in the year of 2002 with a diploma certified in pedagogy and classical repertoire under the method of Vaganova. During his career Mr. Navarro was trained by Sonja Stamberg, Rafael Portillo, Vicente Nebrada, Vladimir Loupujov, Ruta Butvilliene, Rumen Rachev, Sasha Vojkic and Vladimir Issaev.
Mr Navarro performed multiple character roles such as Mother Comedia for the Miami City Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker”, Dr. Coppelius in “Coppelia”, Widow Simone in “La Fille Mal Gardee” for the America’s ballet School in Tampa, Gamache in “Don Quixote” and Stepsister in “Cinderella” for the South Florida Ballet Theater, Soldier in “Carmen” for the Gamonet Ballet, the evil Carabose in “The Sleeping Beauty”, Mother Comedia, Mouse King and Dr. Stahlbaum for the Gulfshore Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker”. After moving to Fort Myers Mr. Navarro continues pursuing his passion for coaching, teaching and shares his knowledge and experience in dance.
